Sensorial Material

Sensorial activities are aimed at helping the child refine each of the senses - tactile, visual, auditory, olfactory, and gustatory. Sensorial Materials, like many other materials in the Montessori classroom, have what is called a "control of error." This means that the child will work with the material, but will have a way for them to check their own work rather than seeking out the teacher. This is done to help promote independence on the part of the child.

Ronak is working with the Pink tower - a series of ten pink wooden cubes graded in size from one cubic centimeter to 1,000 cubic centimeters, helping him understand dimensions.

Madhur is working with the Cylinder Blocks - wooden blocks that contain 10 cylinders of various dimensions that can be removed by a knobbed handle. The purpose of the cylinder blocks are to provide various size dimensions so the child can distinguish between large and small, tall and short, thick and thin, or a combination of the two.

Nithya is working with Tasting bottles. She is trying to distingish one taste from the other & pair similar tastes together.

Anushka is working with Secondary colour tablets & is pairing similar colours together.
